Shabbat

It is a gift to bring together Jewish teenagers from all different backgrounds for a life-changing Shabbat full of singing. We have worked hard to create a pluralistic shabbat experience that feels meaningful and supportive of the different ways in which our community observes Shabbat. All of our communal spaces are fully Shabbat-observant and do not include use of musical instruments, writing, or technology. There are times throughout Shabbat in which we engage in Tefillah with our entire community and times in which our students break off into different prayer experiences.

Communal Tefillah: When our community is all together, our room is set up in a “Tri-Chitzah” which includes a section for mixed-gender seating, a section for men, and a section for women. These experiences are led by our Musicians-in-Residence and do not include any form of instrumental music once Shabbat begins.

Tefillah Options: There are opportunities throughout Shabbat in which our students choose the prayer option that fits with the customs of their families and/or schools. These Tefillot are led collaboratively by students and staff members.
