Kolot Hayam Competition
Every year, we kick off Kolot with a giant competition to set the tone for an incredibly fun and musically-packed weekend!
The Opening Act
Our Kolot 2025 Competition will kick off with a live performance by Berkalit. We are so honored that they will be opening for us and encourage you to read more about this wonderful group.
Grade-Level Competitions
Throughout the show, there will be grade-level competitions and trivia led by our very own “Jacob on the Street”. At the end of the weekend, the grade with the most points will win a prize.
The Great Jewish Day School Choir Competition
Jewish Day School Choirs have the opportunity to enter this competition and receive live critique from our panel of professional judges including Mike Boxer,
Mayta Cohen, Ariel Wyner, and Nathaniel Ribner.
The rules:
Rule #1: Each choir must sing one song in Hebrew and one song in English
Rule #2: Each choir must perform at least one a cappella song and can choose an a cappella or accompanied song for their second selection. The judges will score the performances using the rubrics (a cappella or accompanied) based on the choir’s repertoire. Judges will calculate final scores based on the rubrics and will award choir trophies for “2026 Runner Up” and “2026 Winner.”
The Guest Judge panel:
This panel will consist of Craig Resmovits and members of Berkalit. They will give out special recognitions such as superlative awards for each choir and 3 awards for featured performers. Featured performer awards can include soloists, beatboxers, duets, trios, or student accompanists.
Once our competition concludes, we shift the tone from competition mode to unity through community!
